The Demuth Foundation operates two art museums in downtown Lancaster—the Demuth Museum and the Lancaster Museum of Art—and works to promote the appreciation and awareness of the visual arts in Lancaster. The Foundation preserves the legacy of modernist painter Charles Demuth and his groundbreaking art, supports local and regional artists, and inspires a new generation of creatives. This is accomplished through unique exhibitions and engaging educational programs to serve a diverse community. Our Foundation’s vision is an inspired community where all recognize their inherent creativity and the arts foster a dialogue to enhance the quality of life in Lancaster. While the historic home and art of Lancaster native Charles Demuth are central to the focus of programs, the work of other exemplary artists of local, regional, national and international reputation are also explored.
