During the month of November there is a lot of excitement at The Farmington Valley Arts Center in Avon, CT as studio artists are getting ready for the 37th Annual Candlelight Opening (November 22, 2013 5:00-9:00pm). Avon is one of the prettiest towns in New England and lucky to have a fabulous non-profit Art Center which has been home to twenty studio artists and fabulous art and cultural events since the 1970s. 

I'm somewhat of a newbie at FVAC, with an Abstract Mixed Media art studio (9B) on the second level of this former Ensign Bickford factory. While there are many new professional artists who lease space each year at FVAC, there are also many seasoned full time working artists who have been making art at FVAC for decades.

The Farmington Valley Arts Center is tucked away, just off route 44 in the town's governing hub, in a park like setting which is a magical place to have an art studio. Wildlife artist Kathy Goff who has an incredible studio on the first level, is godmother to all the gorgeous birds (and wildlife) that also claim home to the grounds of FVAC.

Master printer Melisssa Meredith i(second level) will be unveiing her newly designed printmaking studio. After 36 years, she was ready to have a makeover! Melissa will be exhibiting outstanding works from her large collection of original monotype prints.   

You will also find studio artists  (and guest artists) who will be exhibiting ceramics, pottery, textile art, paintings, illustration art, photography, jewelry, sculpture, weaving and more.Also new this year is a completely re-designed Drezner Hoiday Gift Gallery. Be sure to visit the Tea Room .  

I encourage you to shop for the hoiday's at FVAC and remember Chanukah is on Thanksgiving!
