BOSTON, MA – September 8, 2016 –Skinner, Inc. presents its third Fine Jewelry auction of 2016 on Tuesday, September 27 at 10AM in Boston. The auction will feature over 700 lots of diamonds, colored stones, and antique and period jewelry.

Skinner is proud to offer The Nancy and Gilbert Levine Collection, donated to the Toledo Museum of Art and sold to benefit its future acquisitions. The collection comprises ninety-six pieces spanning over a hundred years of jewelry design history. Standouts include a stunning pair of aquamarine and diamond earrings dating to circa 1785 (Lot 133, estimated bewteen $4,000-6,000), a rock crystal demi-parure from the 1820s (Lot 160, $4,000-6,000), and a gold and turquoise bracelet, circa 1835 (Lot 172, $2,000-3,000). The Levine collection is particularly strong in Victorian earrings and archaeological revival jewelry.

Among the many designer pieces in this auction there are several worthy of special mention, including a beautiful 29.63 cts. diamond riviere necklace by Harry Winston(Lot 717, $60,000-80,000), composed of ninety-nine diamonds, all D to F color. The auction also features an Art Deco gem-set brooch by Cartier (Lot 711, $15,000-20,000), an Art Deco ruby and diamond bracelet by Tiffany & Co. (Lot 709, $10,000-15,000), apair of gold, diamond, and interchangeable hardstone earclips by Van Cleef & Arpels(Lot 687, $6,000-8,000).

This auction has a strong collection of antique and period jewelry from several notable collectors. Of particular interest is a Renaissance revival gold bracelet by Falize Aine & Fils (Lot 703, $15,000-20,000). Other lots include an Art Deco black opal necklace (Lot 705, $8,000-12,000), anaquamarine, opal, and plique-a-jour enamel brooch (Lot 704, $6,000-8,000), and antique diamond flower earrings (Lot 124A, $4,000-6,000).

Unmounted Diamond (Lot 718, Estimate: $80,000-100,000)

Leading the collection of diamonds on offer is a 9.38 cts. old European-cut diamond graded by the GIA as I color, VVS2 clarity(Lot 718, $80,000-100,000). We are pleased to offer a wide range of diamond solitaires ranging in size from 1 cts. to over 5 cts. In addition to diamond solitaires, the auction includes several impressive pieces of diamond jewelry including a colored diamond bracelet weighing 39.45 cts. (Lot 695, $20,000-30,000), a diamond riviere weighing approx.27.00 cts. (Lot 693, $10,000-15,000), and a diamond flower brooch weighing approx. 8.50 cts  (Lot 686, $5,000-7,000).
