Cottone Auctions November: Art & Antiques sale on Wednesday, the 2nd & Thursday, the 3rd, 2022, at 12PM EST. Cottone Auctions is pleased to offer selections from The Estate of Howard D. Booher Sr., Atwater, OH., the lifelong collection of John & Mary Jo Knowles, Rochester, NY, as well as various private collections, estates, and individuals.

 

The sale will be held online at Cottone Auctions gallery at 120 Court Street, Geneseo, NY. Previews are being offered by appointment. Online bidding will be facilitated by the Cottone Auctions website, register to bid at live.cottoneauctions.com. Bidding via LiveAuctioneers.com and Invaluable.com will also be available. Day I on Weds. Nov. 2nd will include Asian items, oriental rugs, silver, Native American items, military, Americana, paintings & prints, and clocks. Day II on Thurs. Nov. 3rd will include estate jewelry, Steuben, lamps, art glass, furniture, decorative arts and will feature over 150 oil lamps from the lifelong collection of John & Mary Jo Knowles, Rochester, NY. Featured in lighting, decorative arts, and art glass: a Fine & Rare Duffner & Kimberly Poppy Hanging Fixture (est. $30,000-$50,000); a Duffner and Kimberly Magna Carta Lamp, a Tiffany Studios, Swirling Oak Leaf Table lamp; and a collection of Steuben, Lalique, and Tiffany Studios art glass. Nov. 3rd will be finishing with the collection of over 150 oil lamps from the lifelong collection of John & Mary Jo Knowles, Rochester, NY, highlighted by a White Cut to Blue Overlay Oil Lamp ($700-$1,000).

 

Estate jewelry and silver items are led by a Lady's 3.81 ct Diamond & Emerald Ring, in a 18k gold setting with a 3.81 ct. princess cut diamond, H color, VVS2 clarity, and 1.95 ct. emerald cut emeralds (est. $30,000-$50,000); as well as pieces by Tag Heuer Autavia, Piaget, Bulgari, Tiffany & Co., Patek Philippe, and Wallace.

 

Headlining 20th Century Paintings and Prints, a collection of works by Clyde Singer, an American Regionalist artist from Malvern, Ohio, will be presented on November 2nd. The works from a Buffalo, NY collection will be highlighted by a Clyde Singer (American, 1908-1999) Court Room Scene, an oil on canvas measuring 31 3/4 x 18 in (est. $3,000-$5,000). Other standouts in 20th Century paintings and prints include: Emile A. Gruppe (American, 1896-1978) "King Street, Rockport, Mass" oil on canvas measuring 25 x 30 in. (est. $4,000-$6,000); and John Von Wicht (German, 1888-1970) "Ghost Hill", from a private Upstate New York Institution (est. $1,000-$1,500). Other artists include Salvador Dali, George A. Renouard, William Schwartz, Robert Gruppe, Bruce Kurland, and Alfred Nunamaker.

 

Highlighting Native American, Navajo Jewelry and Military items: a Navajo Transitional Chief's Blanket, circa 1890-1910, measuring 5 ft. 11 in. x 4 ft. 2 1/2 in. ($2,000-$4,000); a Native American Plains Indian Pipe Tomahawk (est. $5,000-$8,000); Hector Aquilar, Mexican Sterling Silver Necklace and Bracelets; and a LeMat Civil War Confederate Revolver, designed in 1855, US Patent 1856 (est. $10,000-$15,000).

 

A selection of clocks will be presented from the John Taylor Collection, Derbyshire, UK and several other private collections. Notable among these are a Rare Juvet Floor Model Globe Clock (est. $4,000-$6,000), as well as a Rare American, Banjo Clock, with an 8 day weight driven A frame brass movement (est. $1,500-$2,500).

 

20th Century Design & Furniture to include items by Marcel Breuer, Borge Mogensen, Hans Wegner, Eero Saarnin, Charles & Ray Eames, Kim Moltzer and Jean-Paul Barray, Louis Poulsen, Mitchell Bobrick, Hans Christensen, and Yngve Ekstrom. Asian items and oriental rugs highlighted by: a Pair of Chinese Blue-Glazed Dishes ($1,500-$2,500); and Tabriz Oriental Rug measuring 11 ft. 5 in. x 8 ft. 5 in. ($3,000-$5,000).
