With a few days remaining, bidding is still open for Everard Auctions fine and decorative arts sale, which runs hrough October 31st. Drawn from 3 large regional collections, the sale includes old and modern masters, as well as over 200 decorative arts–with estimates totaling between $200,000- to $300,000.

One of the most interesting collections was assembled by an American living in London during the post-World War II period who frequented London salesrooms, picking up works attributed to Sir Thomas Lawrence and others. This collection is complemented with a selection of English furniture and decorative works of art and paintings by American regional artists including Lamar Dodd and early Modernist artists working with the WPA.  Other works represented are marine scenes and views of Venice by artists working in the 18th through 20th century.

A highlight of the sale is large folio Volume II of Gould’s Birds of Great Britain, dating from 1873 (est.: $8,000-12,000). Of particular note of is A Portrait of a Nobleman, by a follower of Conelius Janssens van Ceulen I, a Dutch / British painter active in the early 17th century (est.: $1,200-1800).  The two possible Sir Thomas Lawrence portraits (est.: $1,000-1,500), are unusually small, with old hand-written labels ascribing the work to the artist on the back panel.

Leading the decorative arts category is a rare bold geometric Heriz carpet estimated at $10,000-15,000 and a large group of good quality 18th to early 19th century English furniture, several in large, highly figured mahogany,.

The auction is on view on the iGavelauctions.com platform through October 31st. Bidding inquiries are directed to Amanda Everard at amanda@everard.com. Items can be seen in person at Everard Auctions located at 2436 Waters Ave., Savannah, GA 31404, from October 28th to 30th.
