NEW YORK, NY (June 18, 2021) - Shakespeare’s Fulcrum, a new gallery and performance space in Hudson, NY, presents “The New Divine Feminine” exhibition of work by artist Tery Fugate-Wilcox. The energy of this show is to reveal new aspects of the prism of the divine feminine. A pantheistic expression will be on view from an international stable of artists, from performance art to nascent objects involving into mature works.

“The New Divine Feminine” exhibition will open at Shakespeare’s Fulcrum on Tuesday, June 22 in tandem with a fundraising event in which all proceeds will go towards the revitalization of the historic Venus Fountain, located at 7th Street Park in Hudson, New York. The special opening event will also feature performance art by Heather Fisch and Norman Douglas and fashion installation by Celestino Couture. The exhibition will run through August 21, 2021.

ABOUT THE NEW DIVINE FEMININE

Venus represents many things to many people and has been described as perhaps “the most original creation of the Roman pantheon”, and “an ill-defined and assimilative” native goddess, combined with “a strange and exotic Aphrodite”. Venus rebirthed as the symbol of The New Divine Feminine highlights her ability to be intersectional and inclusive and bipartisan. She upholds virtues of integrity, transparency, and balance, and therefore abundance. She is everyone’s hero/heroine, from ancient antiquity to the postmodern world. The world needs a symbol we can all stand behind and uphold for the sake of all … as a human collective.

THE HISTORY OF THE GALLERY

A gallery with a rich legacy, Shakespeare’s Fulcrum (also called Fulcrum Gallery) was formerly located in New York City from 1993-2002, housed underneath the Guggenheim Museum SoHo. The progressive gallery was home to the Actual Art movement that was born in downtown NYC, which is the concept that time and natural process should be able to change art’s appearance, with nature as a collaborator in the artwork. Fugate-Wilcox initiated the Actual Art movement, and his artwork is featured in the permanent collections of MoMA, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim, and in public and private collections throughout the world.
