A collection of objects by Louis Comfort Tiffany deaccessioned from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston will highlight Doyle New York’s Belle Epoque auction on September 23 at 10am. The collection comprises over thirty lots of colorful lamps, vases, bowls and other objects. Proceeds from the sale of the items will benefit the Museum’s collection.

Highlighting the lamps by Tiffany Studios are a bronze and leaded favrile glass Dragonfly lamp designed by Clara Driscoll, circa 1906-13 (est. $50,000-70,000) and a gold painted bronze and leaded favrile glass Dogwood lamp (est. $20,000-30,000). The collection offers two Tiffany Studios bronze and favrile glass twelve-light Pond lily lamps: a floor lamp, height 56 1/2 inches (est. $35,000-40,000) and a table lamp, height 21 inches (est. $20,000-30,000).

Tiffany favrile glass vases from the collection include numerous examples in a variety of shapes and patterns (est. range $500-6,000). Also offered are Tiffany favrile glass dishes, salt cellars and other forms.

Property from other consignors in the September 23 sale includes a pair of late 19th century Italian Renaissance style majolica busts of Isabella D'Este and Ippolito D'Este attributed to the Angelo Minghetti Manufactory, Bologna, with marble pedestals, height of taller bust 39 1/4 inches (est. $8,000-12,000).

Among the bronze figural groups in the sale are examples by Emmanuel Fremiet, Erte, Adrien Etienne Gaudez, Evgeny Lanceray, Isidore Jules Bonheur, Ferdinand Pautrot and R. Varnier.

The silver section of the auction offers sterling silver flatware services, tea and coffee services, trays, vases and candlesticks by Georg Jensen, Tiffany & Co., Gorham, S. Kirk & Son, Stieff and others makers. 

The sale includes an extensive assortment of art glass in various forms by such prominent makers as Rene Lalique, Tiffany, Galle, Daum and Salviati.

Porcelain in the sale features an array of figural groups, plaques, plates and vases by Meissen, Sevres, KPM and others, in addition to Japanese and Chinese export porcelains.

Furniture in the sale includes two circa 1900 French Art Nouveau marquetry inlaid side tables: an example by Louis Louis Majorelle (est. $1,500-2,500) and another by Emile Galle (est. $1,500-2,000). Also featured is a French Art Nouveau carved walnut mirrored buffet possibly by Edouard Diot (est. $4,000-6,000).

Among the fin de siècle art in the sale are works by Antoine-Louis Barye, Frederic Stone Batcheller, Václav Brozík, Eugène Galien-Laloue, François Gall, Charles Giron, Herman Herzog, Joseph Leempoels, Adolphe-Alexandre Lesrel, Sir William Blake Richmond, Albert Rosenthal, William Edward Bloomfield Starkweather, Victor Tischler, Lorenzo Valles and Louis Valtat.
