The “Light and Line” exhibit features work by Gallery One artists who explore the interplay between light and line to create a visual dialogue with movement, color, and form. Connecticut-based Gallery One represents a diverse group of established artists whose works reflect different artistic traditions.

Jill Vaughn’s recent work is inspired by the linear patterns created by the wind during low tide along the shore. “Light comes into play as shadows are cast by the mounded sand. I used collage and three-dimensional shapes to create texture and reflect the beautiful designs made by nature,” Vaughn said.

Diana Rogers’ paintings of coastal waterways and landscapes explore the interaction of light, color, and pattern. “It is mesmerizing to watch the light change each day and across seasons and how it transforms a scene, mood, and energy,” Rogers said.

For artist Rick Silberberg, multiple horizon lines and multi-layered borders are essential elements. “My paintings include abstracted and distinct shapes that traverse the terrain between the physical and psychological landscapes of life,” Silberberg noted.

Exhibiting artists include: Rosemary Cotnoir (Westbrook), Michael Fanelli (Clinton), Victor Filepp (New London), Karen Israel (West Hartford), Ann Knickerbocker (Old Saybrook), T. Willie Raney (Ivoryton), Diana Rogers (Clinton), Rick Silberberg (Ivoryton), and Jill Vaughn (Ivoryton) and guest artists: Judith Barbour Osborne (Chester), Sheila Kaczmarek (Guilford), and Brian McClear (West Hartford).
