Russian Empire Chairs On Sale at UK Antiques Fair
A superb pair of Russian Empire period mahogany new-classical chairs go on sale at The Petersfield Antiques Fair at the Festival Hall from 31stJanuary – 2ndFebruary with a price tag of £25,000.
This rare and important pair of chairs date from 1810-1815 and feature decorative brass inlay. They were designed under the influence of the French cabinetmaker Georges Jacob and will be offered for sale by Ellis Fine Art from Yorkshire. As Keith Ellis explains, the chairs display the best of 19thcentury grandeur and will be a major addition to any import collection of antiques.
The Petersfield Antiques Fair features specialist dealers from across the country offering a wide range of art, antiques, decorative furnishing pieces, jewellery and much more with prices to suit every pocket.
The fair has something for every collector, from superb Art Nouveau and Art Deco bronzes and glass to English porcelain to a fabulous choice of traditional Georgian and Victorian furniture and paintings to be shown by Mike Melody Antiques, Malcolm Bowdery Antiques and Wilsons Antiques from Worthing.
Art aficionados can enjoy English watercolours from the 19thand twentieth century belonging to Michael St John and Baron Fine Art while Ashleigh House offer 19thcentury oil marine and landscape paintings. Pottery and porcelain from a range of famous factories is strongly represented by Jupiter Antiques, Drove House Antiques and, with English pottery, Roger de Ville. Mark J. West specialises in British and European glass while Shine on Design will be showing Art Deco furniture, lighting and designer pieces.
Thirty-seven specialist dealers take part at this popular twice annual event that offers pieces for every collector, from less than £25 to more than £25,000. All items are labelled with their price, age and description and carefully vetted by experts for quality and authenticity.
A number of dealers will be showing for the first time, bringing even greater variety to the pieces on offer. They include Granta Fine Art with Modern British paintings and Trevor Towner with fine silverware.
