Art Pottery at UK Harrogate Antiques Fair
A collection of art pottery from the late 19thand early 20thcenturies will be a major attraction when it goes on sale at The Pavilions of UK's Harrogate Decorative, Antiques & Art Fair at the Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate, Yorkshire, 1st– 3rd November 2019.
Belonging exhibitor Brian Ashbee, the collection includes examples from such famous factories as Pilkingtons, Della Robbia, Burmantofts, Moorcroft and Ruskin.
Says Brian: ‘There is a strong demand for good quality designer pieces from the Decorative Arts era, a period in which designers excelled in Britain. It is a delight to offer such a fascinating, colourful and decorative collection of pieces at the Harrogate Fair. Prices will range from an affordable £25 up to £3,000.
Among the highlights will be a superbly decorated charger from Della Robbia designer Gwendoline Buckler, circa 1900, 47cm in diameter, and made in Birkenhead. Merseyside. This rare piece has the premium price of £2450.00. A collection of Pilkingtons Royal Lancastrian ware, made at Clifton Junction, Manchester, is equally colourful and collectable.
The Pavilions of Harrogate Fair brings together many dealers from the north of England.
Garrett & Hurst specialise in 19thand 20thcentury bronze sculpture; Rowles Fine Art offerpaintings and sculpture; jewellery specialists include Plaza and Shapiro & Co; while Roger De Ville has early English pottery.
