ABSTRACT FIGURATIVE MINIMALISM - MICHAEL KILGORE

In this untitled artwork,

I was imagining the raping

of countless African Women

at the the savage hands of

the slavemaster. Interestingly enough,

they refered to the Women as animals

and yet, they enjoyed having sex with

them against their will. Then, what does

that make the slavemaster having sex

with a so-called animal? In my interpretation

she has been brutally violated, yes,

the red symbolizes BLOOD and symbolically,

she feels amputated, less than the

regal Woman she once was and in many

cases, she was able to BLOCK OUT

how she felt and continued living her life.

I also say that if your ancestors did not live

this particular experience, you cannot imagine

the HORROR of these despicable acts no more

than we can imagaine the HORROR of what

happened to Jewish people at the hands of

Hitler. Thankfully, I can express my feelings

via my ART and this is BLACK HISTORY MONTH.

Sending HEAVENLY BLESSINGS to all our ancestors

who was subject to SLAVERY and today WE RISE

and MARCH ON in these perilous current times

at the hand of a lunatic demonic president.

CREATIVELY YOURS,

MICHAEL KILGORE & MIKEL KILGOUR
