Gray’s offers Eclectic Selection of Furniture, Paintings and Décor for auction

Gray’s auction on February 18th includes artworks from established artists such as Emile Auguste Pinchart, Gaston Prunier, Edmond Hottenroth and Pablo Picasso, together with a diverse collection of antique furniture, jewelry and an exquisite collection of tribal masks and wood-carved statues.

Among many tribal pieces featured in this auction, there is a 20th century Senufo Tribe, carved wood rhythm pounder from The Ivory Coast. This tall sculpture, lot 522, and other intricate tribal wood sculptures and masks may be viewed in our catalogue.  Proceeds from the sale of many of the tribal artworks benefit the Cleveland Institute of Art’s Ann and Norman Roulet Student and Alumni Gallery.

The center piece of the auction is the cream-framed Emile Auguste Pinchart oil on canvas, Family Gathering by the Sea Shore.  Lot 11A in our catalog, the oil on canvas features four women of different generations. The French painter (1842-1924) painted a gorgeous array of portraits of women throughout his life.

A fossil of the Phareodus and Diplomystus Fish from the Green River Formation in Wyoming, lot 486, will also be featured.  It dates back to the Eocene epoch and is from The Collection of Stanley Yulish.  Two fish overlap one another with a third sitting at the top.

A brilliant pair of 14kt. white gold and diamond solitaire earrings is set to also star in this upcoming auction.  Lot 91 is a set of 3.4 ct. brilliant cut diamond round.
