Call for art: Sunrise and the Green New Deal

San Francisco Bay Area, California—April 3, 2021—Sunrise Silicon Valley, the Silicon Valley hub of the national Sunrise movement, is hosting an art competition titled “Envisioning The Green New Deal Art Contest.”

At Sunrise Silicon Valley, we want to spread creativity and empower each other to envision the future that we're fighting for. That's why Silicon Valley Sunrise is holding a national art competition with the prompt: “Envision the future under a Green New Deal” to ignite the fire of hope under our nation. All styles of creative work are welcome: visual art, video, dance, photography, writing, poetry, and music.

Winners’ art will be showcased on a national scale, some works will be projected onto buildings in cities from San Francisco to New York, and winners will be mentored by experts in their art fields. There is no current deadline, but the earlier your work is submitted, the more likely it will be featured in promotional work, art shows, and even in local galleries.

Submit your art HERE:

Submission deadline for our Earth Day event: April 7, 2021

General submission deadline: July 22, 2021

We also encourage you to post your submissions online with the hashtag #GNDhope (and make sure to tag us too!)

The Green New Deal is a governmental pledge to stop the climate crisis through a ten year, nation-wide job mobilization. Transitioning the systems and services of this country to protect the people and the planet is very possible, and will take a lot of work, creating millions of jobs and uplifting the economy. The Green New Deal would require a just transition for all, ushering in workers rights policies like a fair, living wage, and welcoming people of all races, nationalities, and economic backgrounds.

The Sunrise Movement is a youth movement to stop climate change and create millions of good jobs in the process. We’re building an army of young people to make climate change an urgent priority across America, end the corrupting influence of fossil fuel executives on our politics, and elect leaders who stand up for the health and wellbeing of all people.
