Lawrence Fine Art is pleased to announce that it will exhibit at the 2022 Hamptons Fine Art Fair, located at the Southampton Fairgrounds, from July 14-17. Ninety galleries showing modern and contemporary art will participate.
"The Hamptons are one of America's fastest growning, most posh and vibrant art scenes. We always enjoy the dialogue with collectors, advisors and viewers alike," said gallery Director and Owner Howard Shapiro.
This year the gallery will focus on color, landscapes and works by important post-War artists, including Paul Resika, Jane Freilicher, Mercedes Matter, Judith Rothschild, Vivian Springford, Melville Price, Stan Brodsky, Charles Cajori, Perle Fine, Michael Loew, and Marjorie Strider, among others. "We are very fortunate to be able to show strong works across the board," said Shapiro.
Shapiro said he is very excited about showing a recently discovered beach scene by the German-Jewish-American artist Hugh Kappel. "Kappel showed at the 9th Street Show, but his work is very rare. This work is very Gorky in its affect," said Shapiro.
A few highlights include:
- "Spring," by Paul Resika, an intensely colored landscape from 1980.
- "A View from the Artist's Home, Wainscott," by Jane Freilicher, c. 1980.
- A suite of six cubist nudes by the artist Michael Loew, from 1951. "Stunning," said Shapiro.
- A late work by Stan Brodsky. "One of his best," said Shapiro.
