Future, Feelings, Faces at Art International Zurich September 22-24, 2017

 by Dr. Barbara Aust-Wegemund

Celebrating 19 years in Zurich, Art International Zurich takes place at the historical Exhibition Hall Puls 5 at Giessereihalle in the heart of Zurich-West. The trendy district that once witnessed the industrial revolution offers a melting point for art, fashion and design, cross-over-culture, shopping and architecture. The most popular restaurants, bars and clubs are located in this area. Dealing with innovative concepts for integrating successful arts precincts, museums and institutions, as well as established collector-focussed program, the art fair promises that 2017 continues a successful story.

Long-established as the original incubator for emerging work, Zurich’s art event celebrates its nineteenth’s year of introducing young and established galleries to the contemporary art market, a remarkable opportunity for exposure Galerie Zum Harnisch. The Gallery’s Director and Swiss Chiefcurator Priska Medam is featuring emerging and mid-career artists: Evelyn Dönicke, Oliver Fauser, Marianne Maritz-Mauchle, Priska Medam and Susanne Saidi-Schuster. Special guest Laurence Gartel from New York, the pioneer of the Digital Art Movement, showcases his recent works, among them his famous art cars and a self portrait.

Regarding the selection of artists’ positions the gallery director Priska Medam explains the concept of her curated show: “Drawing upon our growing challenge on personal identity and questions about global change and future visions, the curated show brings together a collection of works that reveal how people are searching solutions for a better world. There is no doubt, that the artists have given profound expression to create avantgarde art. We are delighted that the art fair jury committee also appreciate the high performance of the selected artists and decided to present us at booth 14, where collectors can find us easily.”

The art fair opens to VIPs and Press on Thursday, September 21, 6 – 10 pm and runs from September 22 to 24, 2017. Art International Zurich is an important event for collectors, curators and interior designers, providing an intimate look at some of the most important works at the forefront of the international contemporary art movement.
