Through his close friendship with Max Ernst, Schamoni assembled an exceptional collection that serves as a lasting memento of his close friendship with Ernst and, most importantly, of the artist's expansive and experimental approach to material and technique.

This unique group, which includes works from the 1920s to the 1970s, encompasses works on paper, editions, photographs alongside ephemera that provide an insight to the collaborative and familiar relationship between Schamoni and Ernst.

Born in 1934, Schamoni met a mature Ernst (1891-1976) in France in the 1960s. The filmmaker documented the artist's work across key themes and motifs in his career – this online auction offers both established and emerging collectors an opportunity to own fantastic examples of works by Max Ernst.
