Happy birthday, Russell Young!
On March 13, Russell Young celebrates his 61st birthday. GALERIE FRANK FLUEGEL has been featuring Russell's work for a long time. Among them are the famous paintings - Marilyn Crying and Marilyn Goddess.
We are pleased to have been one of the first galleries in Germany to present the works of Russell Young. Celebrating his successes - from museum exhibits to record sales at auction houses - is no longer a rarity. But every time such a celebration is held, we reflect on the true value of art - how one person's talent, vision and creativity can influence so many people.
Hooray for Russell and other artists who put their heart and soul into their work, work that enriches our lives in many, sometimes unknown ways.
Russell Young (born March 13, 1959) is a British-American artist best known for his large silkscreen paintings, which use motifs from recent history and popular culture.
After spending his early years as a producer of music videos in London, he moved to New York in 2000 and began devoting himself to art.
In 2010 Russell Young became very ill and almost died in February 2010. He was in a coma for 8 days, caused by pneumonia and ARDS; all caused by the H1N1 virus.
After his long recovery, Young examined his life and environment and began to explore the nature of the trauma and its effects on the individual and cultural psyche.
He now lives and works in New York and Los Angeles.
GALERIE FRANK FLUEGEL with locations in Nuremberg and Kitzbühel is focused on high-quality originals of Pop Art, Street Art and Contemporary Art by Alex Katz, Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, Keith Haring, Mr. Brainwash, BAMBI, XOOOOX, Roy Lichtenstein, Julian Opie, Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, Sean Scully, Robert Longo, KAWS, Tracey Emin, Peter Doig or David Shrigley.
