$55,813 Carved Ivory Vase Tops Garth’s Decorative Arts Auction, Jan. 29th

The successful bidder for this carved ivory vase, the top lot of the sale which sold for $55,813, arrived at the auction with a mission: to buy this lot.  She was so enthusiastic that as the bidding began she kept upping the bid increments shouting "$10,000" and then $15,000" to move the process along.

An impressive early 20th century Chinese carved ivory vase was the top lot of Garth’s Auctioneers and Appraisers’ auction of Asian, Continental, & American Furniture, Decorative Arts, & Fine Art on January 29, 2011.
