The Demuth Museum will open its 2012 exhibition schedule with the annual Invitational exhibition, showcasing the work of contemporary artists from Lancaster and the surrounding region who have been invited to exhibit new works based on a given theme. This year’s exhibition, titled "An Architect's Influence," takes its theme from Charles Demuth’s interaction with architects. The father and son artist duo of Vernon Kiehl Newswanger (1900-1980) and Christian Newswanger (1927-2005) may be best known for their depictions of the Amish way of life in Lancaster County. However, in examining these two artists separately, one will see that they each developed a unique perspective.
