When travelling in and around New England, it would not be surprising to discover a small, yet interesting multi-oared boat model displayed somewhere in a home, office, or library setting. This small double-ended type vessel would also be found in likely places such as antique shops, online galleries, and at notable maritime galleries -serving as a decorative art accent, or part of a collection. And, of course, these are very much part of the museum settings around the world for its simplistic yet esthetic design. The whaleboat has been the subject of countless stories and maritime...

Each summer for the past 18 years a group of around 70 appraisers come together with the Antiques Roadshow crew and staff in a city to tape three one-hour episodes for the upcoming broadcast season. There are 150 appraisers in total with a core croup of about 40 who have been doing this since the series inception in 1996. The perfect antidote for the recession blues, PBS' hit series "Antiques Roadshow" plans to keep reeling in viewers with exciting discoveries. From attics, and now government safes, valuable (and worthless) art, antiques, and collectibles continue to emerge from the long parade of hopeful Americans who line up in auditoriums across the country for a televised appraisal. On Friday, the show taped its experts perusing jewelry in Colorado's Unclaimed Property Division. Show host Mark L. Walberg and appraiser Peter Shemonsky headed to Denver to inspect bling held in the state's $450 mi...
