The Museum of Modern Art has appointed Sabine Breitwieser, an independent curator, author and lecturer, as the new chief curator for its department of media and performance art.

"Media and performance art are among the most popular and cutting-edge fields in the arts, and the renewed interest in performance that we are currently experiencing is very exciting,"stated Ms. Breitwieser.

The department was behind MoMA's popular "Marina Abramović: The Artist Is Present," a retrospective featuring live, nude models, that has made headlines since it opened in March.
