The Hyde Collection, in Glen Falls, New York, presents a loan exhibition, organized in assocation with Maine's Farnsworth Art Museum, featuring about 40 pencil, watercolor, and tempera works by celebrated American artist Andrew Wyeth.

Although lacking a few of his most well-known works, such as Christina's World, the exhibit (through Sept. 12) underscores Wyeth's great ability to portray a sense of mystery. His brand of magical realism provided views of everyday life from unusual perspectives or evoked his imagination.

Central to the show is the painting “Soaring” (Shelburne Museum), a stark image depicting three turkey vultures circling high above an isolated farmhouse, writes Sara Foss of the Daily Gazette. This realistic rendering with a bird's-eye view demonstrates Wyeth's masterful technique and his imaginative powers.
