Actor Alec Baldwin settled last week with New York art dealer Mary Boone after a lengthy and bitter legal dispute over a painting.

The feud was over a Ross Bleckner painting titled "Sea and Mirror" from 1996 that Baldwin thought he was buying from Boone for $190,000. A smell of fresh paint, a different palette, and other factors led Baldwin to question whether he purchased the original work, or if a new version was passed off to him instead of the piece he sought.

In pretrial discovery, Baldwin's lawyers reportedly turned up what they considered "incriminating emails," according to the New Yorker, leading to a settlement payment to the celebrity of an undisclosed amount along with several Ross Bleckner paintings. Added Baldwin, “Maybe I’ll have Ross paint a picture of the seven-figure check that Mary paid me to settle.”
