Iconic masterpieces along with gems by lesser-known artists are set to draw American art and history lovers to a new destination this fall. Notable fresh acquistions--from Mary Cassatt to Jackson Pollock--are creating buzz for the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, scheduled to open on Nov. 11, in Bentonville, Arkansas.
On display will be some 450 works from the American art collection, representing the colonial period to the present, assembled by Wal-Mart heiress Alice Walton, in 200,000-square-feet of curvaceous, light-filled buildings designed by architect Moshe Safdie. View the slideshow for a sneak peek of collection highlights.
