Giorgio Vasari's Vite delle pui eccellenti pittori, scultori, ed architettori (Lives of the Most Eminent Painters, Sculptors, and Architects) is among the art history texts available on the Getty Research Portal.

Full text versions of books related to art history are available free of charge on a new website launched by the Getty in May.

The Getty Research Portal is aggregating digital content from multiple sources, including such contributors as Columbia University, the Frick Collection, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Art Museum, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the National Institute of the History of Art (INHA) in Paris, the University of Malaga in Spain and Heidelberg University in Germany.

This initiative of the Getty Research Institute is a work in progress with the potential to reap tremendous benefits for art researchers in the years to come.
