English Heritage is rewriting its guides to historic sites

ENGLISH HERITAGE is to rewrite guides to its properties to ensure they can be understood by visitors with the reading age of a 10-year-old.

For example, the description of an item as “Jacobean” might be changed to “made in the reign of King James I”.
