In the late 1800’s it took an uncommon passion for Scottish born painter Thomas Moran to paint and illustrate landscapes that have become the crown jewels of our National Park system. That same passion will be expressed in “Now Showing: In the Footsteps of Thomas Moran”, an art show and sale to benefit the Thunderbird Foundation for the Art opening Friday, May 14th at 5 p.m. in the Bingham Gallery, Mt. Carmel, Utah. Artists from around the United States will display works inspired by the landscapes of Moran created in what are now the National Parks that surround Mt. Carmel. Included in the show will be works from Jill Carver, Russell Case, Colleen Howe, Kraig Kiedrowski, Carolyn Lord, Charles Muench, Kate Starling, Bonnie Posselli and Kathryn Stats. Works by Thomas Moran will also be featured in this show. The work of Moran was instrumental in showing members of congress the beauty of the then unknown land that was the western United States.
