Matthew's Galleries spring fine art auction of 19th-20th century American & European paintings includes over 100 lots. --- One featured work is an 1890s panoramic view of Portland, Oregon by Charles C. Eisele estimated at $8,000-12,000. An Alaskan landscape by Sydney M. Laurence with a guess of $14,000-18,000 and a 19th century Mt. Hood scene by William S. Parrott estimated at $4,000-6,000 are notable as well. Seven plein-air California landscapes by Marie B. Kendall deserve attention as well, carrying estimates low as $500-700 and high as $2,500-3,500. Modernist works include a collage/casein by Paul Horiuchi with a guesstimate of $1,500-2,000; an oil by Robert Colescott “Seated Woman” estimated at $3,000-5,000; two paintings by Jefferson Tester, and more. --- For the European collector, a charming oil of children by William Hemsley titled “The Bird Trap” is offered with an estimate of $1,500-2,500; a Barbizon landscape by Louis A. Bouche will be hard to resist with a guess of $600-900; and a pastoral by Walter J.
