Report from the McNay Art Museum Fair

This past weekend was the McNay Art Museum Fair. Getting to San Antonio in the first week of March, 2015, was a challenge for pretty much everyone, but it was wonderful once we were there. Mostly it was in the 50s with a soft rain on Sunday – perfect weather for an art fair.      Our New York/Art Students League wall featured Peggy Bacon, Will Barnet, and Isabel Bishop. There was also interest in work by William Baziotes, Howard Daum, Claire Mahl Moore, Anne Ryan, and Louis Schanker.      Paintings in the museum’s mid-twentieth century...

The Susan Teller Gallery is showing this week at the METRO FAIR.   Metropolitan Pavilion 125 West 18th Street, west of 6th Avenue, NYC   Friday, January 23, 11 AM to 7 PM Saturday, January 24, 11 AM to 7 PM Sunday, January 25, Noon to 5:30 PM   We are featuring American Modernism including an entire wall of William Baziotes mid-30s surrealist drawings and two 1940s pictograph paintings. Red Dot is in full swing. The traffic has been great; the visitors have been friendly and interesting and interested, looking especially at the William Baziotes paintings, and the Angelo Pinto reverse painting on glass, Red Beach Flag, 1970, and the Peggy Bacon embroidery collage, Valentine Concoction, 1959.   There have been showers every day since we’ve been in Miami, all starting suddenly, coming down in buckets, and ending just as quickly, It’s fine if you are snug and dry in the tent and it sounds wonderful.
