Purported Jasper Johns Bronze Seized by FBI

FBI Seizes Counterfeit Jasper Johns Sculpture

Posted: September 08, 2013 15:17

The FBI arrested Brian Ramnarine, 58, on charges he created a purported Jasper Johns Bronze Flag sculpture and attempted to sell it for $11 million. In 1990, Jasper Johns had provided Mr. Ramnarine with a mold so that he could create a wax cast, which he completed for the Artist.   Although Mr. Ramnarine claimed the wax mold was destroyed, he allegedly created a 1989 Bronze Flag resembling a Jasper Johns Flag Work and also "forged the artist's signature on the sculpture", prosecutors said.   The FBI began an investigation in 2010 when "Ramnarine tried to sell the bronze...

eBay Leaves Buyers of Counterfeit Coach Bags Holding the Bag

Posted: July 27, 2012 18:14

Coach awarded £28.3 million, but will eBay reimburse these duped buyers?   eBay aggressively advertises its Buyer Protection Policy, and like most insurance policies, you need to read the "fine print"! Even with eBay's "10 year too late Buyer Protection Policy", as we wrote 12/30/2007, Counterfeit listings are the norm, as eBay has not implemented appropriate Consumer Fraud Protection that provides requisite protection.  According to eBay's Buyer Protection program, eBay only provides Buyer Protection to US buyers for 45 days even though the Uniform...

Cindy Sherman has a Career Retrospective at the Walker Art Center until February 17, 2013, which has received unanimous praise along with reassessment from Art Critics around the world. Credit Cindy Sherman for changing the definition of Contemporary Art. For decades, Contemporary Art Collectors, Galleries and Auction Houses viewed Photography as if it was "not as important" as Contemporary Painting and Sculpture. Cindy Sherman started her classic Untitled Film Stills series in 1977; she dressed herself in other people's lives and clothes, and documented the result. They...

Why Did eBay Enable Convicted Banksy Art Forgers?

Posted: July 29, 2011 14:12

Two UK Banksy Art Forgers, each enabled by eBay's lack of consumer fraud protection, received suspended sentences, even though each sold hundreds of Banksy Counterfeits, deceiving countless eBay Buyers.  These eBay Buyers now have worthless Art along with worthless Certificates of Authenticity.  Thus far, over 120 fake Banksy's sold by the two con men have been recovered, which, if genuine, are  valued in excess of $350,000. Lee Parker and Grant Champkins-Howard were convicted of selling hundreds of  Banksy Counterfeits, yet a UK judge only sentenced them...

A Chinese Vase expected to sell for $800. to $1,200., was sold by Sotheby's New York for an astonishing $18 million on March 22, 2011. Described as an unusual famille rose and gold decorated vase, an Anonymous Sotheby's bidder paid $18 million for this 20 century porcelain. The Chinese Vase was among 300 lots consigned by J.T.
