J. F. Portaels - Young Woman With Flowers

Young Woman With Flowers by Jean Frans Portaels (Belgian, 1818-1895), is now part of the 19th century European collection at Matthew’s Galleries. While Portaels was known as an Orientalist, this oil suggests a Pre-Raphaelite direction. The 19.75” x 16” canvas is included in the Portaels catalogue raisonné by Antoinette De Laet, (artist’s niece), Brussels, Belgium. It is offered at $110,000.
