Gerald Charles Dickens, the great-great-grandson of literary master Charles Dickens will deliver his only regional performance of A Christmas Carol at Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at 1:00 and 6:00 pm.
Dickens bears more than a passing resemblance to his famous ancestor, who originally toured the U.S. in 1867 reading his literary works before spellbound audiences. According to Dickens, an English actor, his great-great-grandfather adored theater and initially wanted to be an actor but pursued writing as a career for practical purposes.
During his one-man performance, Dickens brings A Christmas Carol to life. He leaps, laments, and laughs as he depicts 26 characters of the classic tale with just a table, wing chair, and hat rack as props.
The show is recommended for ages seven and up. Tickets are available for the performance only, or may be purchased in a package that includes general admission to the museum. Performance-only tickets are $15 per Member; $18 per nonmember; and $10.00 for children under 12. Package price (performance and general admission) is $30.00 per nonmember, and $15.00 for children.
