HARRIS & RUBLE•ART PRESENTS PORTRAITS

BY THE STUDENTS AND TEACHERS OF ART DIVISION

Harris & Ruble•ART, Hollywood’s most diversified and eclectic new gallery, will kick off 2012 with a showcase of recent work produced by the students and teachers of Art Division, a non-profit organization dedicated to training and supporting under-served young artists.  The opening reception will take place Saturday, February 4, from 4 to 8pm, and the exhibition will continue through February 25.  A portion of the proceeds will be donated to future programming at Art Division.

Art Division was founded two years ago by a group of California artists spearheaded by painter Dan McCleary.  It provides a comprehensive arts program to help young people seeking a career in the arts after high school to continue their schooling, secure scholarships and financial aid for college, as well as to provide direction and support in finding jobs where their talents can be put to use. McCleary, coincidentally, has been named Artist in Residence at the Getty Museum where he will be teaching a portrait workshop in January and February.

Art Division also offers a literacy program that includes academic tutoring that ranges from writing workshops with experienced mentors, personalized assistance with school work and applications, and proactive job placement. Individualized tutoring and instruction give students the tools they need to pursue higher education, achieve self-sufficiency and obtain careers in the visual arts.

In addition to McCleary, Los Angeles area artists who have lent their time and talent to Art Division include Javier Carrillo, Eowyn Wilcox, John Nava, Merion Estes, Karen Carson, Lucas Reiner, Patricia Yossen and the late June Wayne.

Art Division is a registered non-profit organization.  For more information, visit their website:  www.artdivision.org
