Heather James Fine Art - Palm Desert is pleased to present Andrew Taylor-Outside: The Periphery.
Andrew Taylor's lush and iridescent paintings of nature are manifested from looking at things from the periphery. He paints the overlooked environment around us that we see but do not consciously focus our attention on.
He describes the subjects in his paintings as “The things we look through when we think we should be looking somewhere else.”
Taylor wants to capture the ephemeral moments in-between, when one's eye wistfully travels from image to image. The indistinct moments he extracts create a dialogue, like an ecosystem within each painting, allowing the images to survive and thrive through their enduring relationship to each other.
His paintings showcase a bold, multi-dimensional color palette as Taylor layers flora of different hues to imply depth and perspective and essentially give the viewer the illusion of peering through nature, perceptively commenting on the elusiveness of the environment around us.
