Lambertville, NJ: The Rago Arts and Auction Center hosts an open house on Thursday, February 23, featuring a talk by Newark Museum curator Ulysses Grant Dietz.
In “What Happened When Pots Became Art?”, Mr. Dietz will discuss ceramics as art, contrasting how this was idea was apprehended in the 19th C. and how multiple aesthetics came to be bracketed by the market into what we now call American art pottery.

The talk takes place during preview week for Rago’s 20TH/21ST C. Design auctions, to be held on February 25 and 26, 2012.
The auction house opens on Thursday, February 23 at Noon. A reception begins at 5 pm. Mr. Dietz will speak at 6 pm.
