One of our favorite pieces in the auction is lot 612: 19th Century Limoges Enamel, Gold and Diamond brooch. Limoges, a small town in south of France, has long been a center for fine enameling, with the finest examples produced during Middle Ages and Renaissance. Revival of Limoges enameling technique happened the late 1880’s following several major exhibitions in Europe. Present piece is one of the more interesting example of the Revival work, with three-section construction, set against dramatic rich yellow gold scroll border accented with rose cut diamonds. The estimate is $1,500-$2,500. The catalogue and bidding may be viewed at www.aspireauctions.com. Bidding has started and this lot closes Friday 12/16 at 12:00 noon est.
