Aspire Auctions May Fine Art & Antiques Auction
Cleveland
, Ohio -- 18 May 2011
Featuring over fourteen hundred lots, Aspire Auction's May 2011 sale will run from Friday, May 20th to Saturday, May 28th. Though bidding is only done online, Aspire will host an on-site preview party at their Cleveland, Ohio-based gallery on the 20th. This event will give clients a chance to experience the property amidst a backdrop of champagne, wine, hors d’oeuvres, and good company. The gallery will be open to the public through May 25th and welcomes visitors to Cleveland Ohio.
Having the standard categories of paintings, sculpture, silver and more, there is an exceptional offering of L.C. Tiffany glass, including a pair of lily lamps estimated $3,000-5,000, flora-form vases and a mosaic trivet estimated $2,500-3,500. Also of importance are two George Nakashima pieces, including a Kornblut case estimated $10,000-15,000 and a Kevin table, estimated $7,000-10,000.
One of the biggest finds for Aspire in the sale are American paintings by John Folinsbee estimated $80,000-$100,000 and Ernest Lawson estimated $40,000-60,000. Both of these paintings are from the same lovely estate; the Folinsbee is listed in the catalogue raisonne, but without having been pictured, until now.
In the Book & Manuscripts category, a lifetime collection of Iwo Jima memorabilia is offered, including a Pulitzer Prize winning photograph signed by Joel Rosenthal, estimated $4,000-6,000. Another outstanding item is a Persian book with seventeen paintings, some full sheet size, of Royalty, huntings scenes, battles, and more. This is estimated $2,000-4,000.
Aspire always has some of the best jewelry offered with such names as Etienne Perret, Charles Krypell, Rolex and Patek Philippe, antique Georgian and Victorian pieces to contemporary designer pieces.
