ARCOmadrid 2012 is going to present 158 galleries from 30 countries, Feb. 15 to 19, at Feria de Madrid. Another 58 galleries will be part of curated shows such as "Opening - Young European Galleries" and "Focus the Netherlands." For the latter, individual galleries and parallel museum exhibitions will focus on Dutch art, this year's special guest at ARCOmadrid. "Solo Projects" underscore Madrid's traditionally close links to the Latin American art scene. A new feature in 2012 will be the initiative called "the featured artist," which will display artworks of one artist per stand in greater detail.
The fair will extend its invitations for the "Forum of Experts" for museum directors and exhibition curators. This year the hosts include, among others, Marc-Olivier Wahler, Director of the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, Hans Ulrich Obrist of the Serpentine Gallery in London and Bartomeu Marí, Director of the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Barcelona (MACBA). Marcelo Mattos Araujo, Director of the Pinacoteca in Sao Paulo, will organise meetings of European and Latin American museum employees.
The concluding programme entitled "After Arco" including an international music festival, film shows and parties will put additional focus on Madrid as an international meeting point.
