Sioban ODonoghue, Traveler, Assemblage on Wood, 7'' x 8'' x 12''

NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Sioban ODonoghue in The Latin American Contemporary Fine Art Competition. The exhibition opens December 5 and runs through December 15, 2018 with an opening reception on Thursday, December 6 from 6-8 pm. Any art lover who enjoys thought-provoking artworks and meeting talented and interesting artists is encouraged to attend.

About the Artist

Sioban ODonoghue uses assemblage to provoke questions about the construction of the world. In her works, the ordinary relatedness of objects and people takes on a poetic, almost whimsical quality. This is because ODonoghue’s works combine materials so that typically separated regions of experience are brought into novel relationships.

In Traveler, the presence of a shoe becomes a metonym for walking itself. The compass tied to the show only conforms this. Situated on wood, the mingling of these objects acts as an invitation, asking viewers to reflect on the immensity of globalized space.
