Throughout time and across borders, food and wine has always been a defining component of culture. The bright colors of fresh fruits and vegetables, the packaging of sweets and snacks, the distinctive shape of a wine bottle can attract the eye and entice the taste buds instantly. Though food trends come and go, they are forever captured in the original vintage posters that advertised them. For foodies, historians and poster aficionados alike, The International Vintage Poster Dealers Association (IVPDA) presents its new web show, "Poster Pairings: An Exposition of Epicurean Posters."
"Original vintage food and wine posters are a favorite among collectors and designers alike," says Mireille Romand, president of the IVPDA. "This online exhibit showcases a variety of original vintage posters advertising food and wine in one delicious and nostalgic online venue."
All the original vintage posters offered through the exhibit have been handpicked by members of the IVPDA, the world's most knowledgeable and trusted poster dealers. Included in the exhibit are iconic advertisements, such as the famed Art Nouveau ‘Absinthe Robette’ and the Art Deco ‘Porto Ramos Pinto’ by Rene Vincent. Posters from the 1950s and 1960s of canned foods, like Del Monte, are featured alongside wine and liquor advertisements. Through the IVPDA’s exhibit, collectors can buy these original posters to display and enjoy in their own dining rooms, bars and wine cellars.
“Poster Pairings: An Exposition of Epicurean Posters” is part of a series of ongoing online exhibitions offered by the IVPDA. Collectors can buy with confidence as all posters sold by IVPDA members are guaranteed to be original vintage posters.
Please visit the IVPDA website at www.ivpda.com to explore the online exhibit, find a poster dealer or learn more about original vintage posters. IVPDA members are happy to advise about condition, availability, market value and recommend proper framing for these antique and vintage treasures.
The International Vintage Poster Dealers Association (IVPDA) is a non-profit organization comprised of the world's most knowledgeable vintage poster dealers. Founded in 1996, the IVPDA provides strict guidelines to promote ethical and fair business practices throughout the vintage poster industry. Dealers displaying the IVPDA logo have passed a series of stringent membership requirements. For more information, please visit www.ivpda.com.
