The Estate of the Artist

The Chicago Print and Drawing Fair is currently on view in the Yates Gallery of the Chicago Cultural Center, March 17 through March 20, 2011. Fourteen dealers are showing, all International Fine Print Dealers Association members. At this fair we are featuring works by women: Peggy Bacon (in advance of our April show), Riva Helfond, Anne Ryan, and Marguerite Zorach. Will Barnet, James Daugherty, Howard Daum, Peter Grippe, Hugh Mesibov, and Fred Shane, round out the group.

The Chicago Cultural Center was originally the Chicago Public Library and the Grand Army of the Republic Memorial Hall dedicated to Northern Soldiers who fought in the Civil War. The neo-classical building itself, completed in 1897, is a massive multi-use extravaganza with exhibition and performance spaces, home of organizations such as the Chicago Children’s Choir and the Chicago Sister Cities program, snack bar, and two spectacular glass domes: the world’s largest Tiffany dome and the even more impressive Healy and Millet.
