(Nantucket) – Quidley & Company Fine Art is pleased to present a solo exhibition of work by the nationally recognized painter Anne Packard. With her iconic coastal imagery, Anne has been a dominant force on the Provincetown art scene for almost half a century, continuing a family tradition begun two generations ago by her grandfather, the renowned American Impressionist Max Bohm. Her paintings have inspired countless artists, yet to view an original Packard is to experience unequaled mastery of the medium and feeling for the subject matter. Anne’s spare, serene images seem to vibrate with the very essence of sea and sky; economical composition and lush brushwork capture the expansiveness of her seascapes. Her work as a whole, while stylistically minimalistic with an almost abstract quality, nevertheless maintains a representational aspect. “I want to create in my… paintings,” Packard says, “that privileged isolation. And awe. I am in awe out there.” Anne’s work is in the collections of the Albrecht-Kemper Museum, Robert Motherwell, and the Bank of Boston, among others.
