auction June 19th
|
Four works in watercolor/collage by the primitive artist Marjorie McDonald (American, 1898-1995) have been acquired by Matthew's Galleries for their June 19, 2012 fine arts auction. The artist began creating art in mixed collage, watercolor & pastel when she was about 75, and produced a distinctive body of work until her death at age 95. These included political statements, quirky portraits, and strange fantastical worlds. Offered at auction are "Frustrated Farmer", "Bon Voyage!" and two other genre subjects.
The auction sale of American & European art from the 18th to 21st centuries, of more than 100 lots, comprises paintings, watercolors and fine prints.
